VAF Marketplace

Learning aids that help children, and things children make, sold fairly.

Planned
Why this matters

A child who sees a stranger choose something they made learns that their work has value. That lesson lasts longer than any sale.

What it is

One place for products that help children learn (aids, sensory tools, adapted materials), alongside products made by children and young people themselves, so their work finds buyers and they earn from it.

Who it serves

Families looking for good learning aids, and young makers and their families.

How it could work

  1. Start as a curated list of trusted aids and makers

  2. Add a simple shop when there is enough demand

  3. Share where the money goes, openly

Things to get right
  • Aids must not promise cures or miracles
  • Young makers need guardian consent, fair pay and protection under child labour rules
  • People should buy for quality, not pity
  • Stock, delivery and tax take real effort; start small

Open questions

  • How do we price fairly for makers and buyers?
  • Who checks aids for safety and honest claims?
  • Could local shops stock a small shelf?
