VAF Parent Portal and app
A space where parents share ideas, needs and what worked.
The loneliest part for many parents is feeling that no one else understands. Another parent who has walked the same road can change that in one conversation.
What it is
A home for parents of children who learn differently: a forum to exchange ideas, time pledges where parents give an hour to other families, and later a mobile app with local help nearby. The parent forum and time pledges on this site are the first version.
Who it serves
Parents and grandparents, especially those who feel alone.
How it could work
Start with the forum and time pledges on this site
Learn what parents use most and what they need that's missing
Build a simple mobile app around that, in Tamil and English
- Many families keep their child's needs private; the space must feel safe
- Advice from one parent can mislead another; gentle moderation helps
- Miracle-cure claims and selling must be kept out
- The app must work on old, inexpensive phones and patchy networks
Open questions
- What would make you trust a parent forum?
- Should parents be able to stay anonymous to each other?
- Which local help should the app list first?
