Seat for seeing and hearing
Move a child who squints or seems lost closer to the board and to you. Then watch for a week.
One instruction at a time
Give one step, check it’s done, then give the next. Long lists get lost.
Say it and show it
Write key words on the board as you say them. Show a finished example first.
Ask them to explain back
“Tell me what you’ll do first.” It shows what was understood, gently.
A little extra time
Some children know the answer and need longer to write it.
Praise the effort
Name what the child tried and did well. Confidence makes the next step possible.
